It’s no secret that Bali has some incredible waves. They come in all shapes and sizes, reef and beach, left and rights, slow and fast.

Below we’ve reviewed some of our favorite waves. Enjoy, and keep checking back for new photos, reviews and information about surfing in Bali!

Balian Beach – West Bali

Located on the West Coast of Bali, Balian Surfing Beach has some of the friendliest waves in Bali. Lefts and rights break from a nearby river mouth over black sand, stones, and flat rock. This place is a swell magnet.
nusa dua surf

Nusa Dua – South Bali

Composed of both lefts and rights, but mostly rights, this stretch of Eastern coastline offers some fantastic waves in front of the most expensive resorts on the island, usually breaking in the off-season.
best bali surf locations

Kuta, Seminyak & Canggu – Central/West Bali

One of the best places to take a surf lesson, swells can bring some fun waves for more experienced visitors as well. We recommend Canggu’s Echo Beach for more advanced surfers. While this area is mostly free from any shallow reef, do be mindful of riptides.
nusa lembongan surf
Though fickle, the island of Nusa Lembongan has a couple of really fun waves. Playgrounds and Lacerations can be paddled to, but Shipwrecks is best accessed by boat. There are a few more fun waves in this area if you’re willing to explore.
uluwatu surf

Uluwatu – South Bali

Uluwatu is home of a left-hand reef point break that has become famous. Though less crowded than Kuta, the wave is cleaner and better and can still amass a decent crowd.
